  • Overview

    Reporting to the Vice President of the Americas, the General Manager Americas West is responsible for generating and maximizing the Instruments, Chemistry Sales and Services revenues of Waters' product portfolio and will assume full regional P&L responsibility.  This position is responsible for managing a customer facing organization in sales, service, support and business development roles.  The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing field teams to drive customer success and continue to grow our business.



    Main responsibilities include:

    • Develop and implement sales and service strategy for the region
    • Strong business acumen with ability to use analytics to pro-actively identify and resolve problems, control costs, and maximize the efficiency of an organization 
    • Responsible for collaboration with field and worldwide marketing groups to create a dynamic and creative business plan to improve market share and achieve budget in all geographic, product and market segments
    • Maximize revenue of every product of the portfolio
    • Manage the profitability of the business by protecting margins and controlling costs, and forecasting revenues to corporate
    • Achieve results through a balanced and objective approach to decision making and meaningful delegation
    • Represent Waters to key opinion leaders and external partners
    • Select, motivate, and develop the Regional team, and develop further high potential talent in the Region
    • Actively participate as a member of the Americas Global Markets Leadership team
    • Ensure the Region’s governance and statutory reporting is managed and compliant
    • Drive and enhance a culture of collaboration, engagement and customer success through robust, transparent leadership


    • BS/Masters/PhD in a scientific discipline (e.g. chemistry, biology or biochemistry) or a science-related field of study
    • The successful candidate is a leader with a track record of over 10 years in commercial leadership roles, including at least three years with full P&L accountability at a regional level. S/he has proven ability to integrate an understanding of sound business and financial fundamentals with in-depth knowledge of the market and industry.
    • This individual has a strong track record developing and leading high performing teams, nurturing a culture of openness and collaboration, operating in a matrix environment. S/he has high business ethics and a long-term commitment to the business mission, the organization and the team, which blends with the Waters culture anchored on core values (deliver benefit), collaboration and passion for what they do.
    • Position must be based on Pleasanton, CA and requires approximately 30% time in Milford, MA Corporate HQ
