  • Overview

    Waters Corporation is currently looking for a Principal Scientist to join our Scientific Operations organization.  In this role, the individual will provide scientific leadership which impacts product development and business outcomes, and positions Waters at the forefront of analytical testing for food & environmental applications.  This includes developing new science, technologies, methods and practices, as well as the generation and presentation of scientific content to support Waters business activities.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead the generation of appropriate technical marketing content in line with the annual business plan, enabling the development of marketing initiatives to support Field Marketing and Sales activities.
    • Develop a deep understanding of customer’s science objectives through food & environmental collaborations and feed this information into the Global Products organisation to support the next new product developments.
    • Work collaboratively in a highly matrixed organisation with other professionals throughout the organisation to ensure transfer of best practices and overall science development.
    • Provide disciplinary scientific leadership which significantly impacts food & environmental projects and the wider scientific community by patenting and/or publishing scientific articles and reviews in internationally recognised journals.
    • Identify, champion and develop new scientific ideas whilst advising on existing research and development activities.
    • Undertake overseas travel in support of food & environmental activities and present applications and Waters technologies at seminars and conferences.

    Qualifications

    • A degree in a science subject with a post graduate degree preferred, in addition to considerable work experience and knowledge gained in an appropriate environment to make a significant contribution within a world-class science organisation.
    • Proven practical experience of developing analytical methods using chromatography and/or mass spectrometry for food & environmental applications using Waters or other related technologies.
    • Proven practical experience in general analytical laboratory procedures, including sample extraction and sample preparation.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills and significant evidence of building good working relationships with collaborators.
    • Must be a self-starter and have excellent organisational, team leadership and networking skills.
