  • Overview

    Waters Corporation is currently searching for a Scientist to join the Scientific Operations organization. We are looking for a talented scientist with extensive hands-on industry laboratory experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing system solutions with specific focus on sample preparation, and applying liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, and informatics for both small and large molecules.

     

    In this role, the candidate will interface with research and development, marketing, and project management business groups across the organization assisting in the research, development and commercial application of new and existing Waters consumables and instrumentation in multiple market segments (e.g. ,pharmaceutical, health sciences, food and environmental, etc.).This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow both professionally and scientifically and to work collaboratively with project team members from other technical disciplines to enhance Waters’ position in a dynamic market.

    Responsibilities

    Working under moderate supervision, the Scientist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

     

    • Develop fit-for-purpose application solutions with Waters analytical products.
    • Research and develop novel sample preparation approaches across many markets, analyzing and small and large molecules in drug formulations, foods, crops and biomatrices.
    • Design and execute experiments with moderate supervision, provide internal presentations to summarize scientific findings.
    • Produce marketing documents, such as application notes, white papers and peer-reviewed papers to enable the development of marketing initiatives to support Field Marketing and Sales.
    • Develop a deep understanding of customers’ science objectives (i.e., voice-of-the-customer) through customer collaborations and maintaining an awareness of competitor activities.
    • Work collaboratively across the Waters organization, with Product Management and R&D on current and new products and solutions that will better meet customer business objectives.
    • Operate and maintain LC/MS systems and general lab equipment while creating and maintaining records of test related activities.
    • Work with marketing colleagues and other technical groups across Waters to define and successfully commercialize new products and to showcase them through publications and collaborations with thought leaders from academia and industry.
    • Provide customer application support.
    • Attend and present at conferences and keep abreast of literature to support product commercialization, aid in customer education, and identify emerging applications, methods and customer needs
    • Global travel ~10%, which may include site-to-site travel, conferences, technical customer visits and training.

    Qualifications

     

     

    • BS or MS in analytical chemistry or related field of study.
    • >3 years industry experience.
    • Fundamental knowledge in areas of analytical chemistry.
    • LC chromatography and MS lab based skill set using various informatics tools.
    • Extensive sample preparation working knowledge (e.g., SPE, LLE, protein precipitation, immunoaffinity purification, etc.) and experience with lab automation is strongly desired.
    • Knowledge of regulatory guidance’s, GLP/GMP compliance, separation science, analytical instrumentation.
    • Problem solver, who is highly organized, can work independently and as part of a team, self-motivated, adaptable, and a positive attitude and thrives in an environment with rapidly changing priorities and short project timelines.
    • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with attention to detail.
