  • Overview

    The LC/MS Systems Evaluation Manager represents an exciting opportunity to lead our Product Evaluation team. In this role, the individual will manage the engineering evaluation team (approx. 10 Evaluation Scientists) that develops testing strategies for our LC/MS technologies.


    The candidate will be responsible for projects, resource allocation, along with technical leadership, creating test strategies and traceable test results against product and user requirements while ensuring that final product meets customer expectations and intended use.


    This is a highly visable leadership position in which the individual could have a background expertise in LC/MS applications, Chemical Engineering, and/or Software Engineering for Electro-Mechanical Instrument Controls. The candidate will work closely with Waters R&D organizations, especially our Instrument Development and Engineering groups.



    • Manage technical team in the creation and execution of validation and verification plans to reduce potential errors during product design phases Drive validation/verification work completion to support assigned product roadmap
    • Support the activities of the Systems Development Group, providing expertise and resource in the design and implementation of experiments to assess new technologies
    • Build team skills to effectively ensure that validation strategies reflect customer requirement 
    • Participate in the review of key instrument design input documents
    • Communicate plans and status to senior management.
    • Seek opportunities to collaborate and expand the role of Evaluation across various disciplines
    • Provide cross functional scientific and engineering leadership to meet business objectives including direct collaboration with Waters Instrument Development and Engineering groups (mechanical, chemical and electrical)
    • Operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of chromatographic systems



    • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Engineering related field. Advanced degree in those areas preferred
    • 10 + years of experience in analytical chemistry, engineering or related field
    • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in people and laboratory management.
    • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical LC/MS applications and product development
    • Excellent documentation and communication skills are required
    • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks for successful and timely project completion
    • Ability to effectively manage a team of Evaluation Scientists/Engineers
