  • Overview

    The Senior Product Owner for Empower will leverage their understanding of the needs of our end user community and translate them into a purpose driven development roadmap. As an influential member of our Informatics organization, the Senior Product Owner will work cross functionally to plan, prioritize and drive features development based on internal and market priorities.

    Empower is Waters Corporation's flagship software product that has been recognized as an industry standard worldwide for the life sciences. Empower delivers benefit to our customers by providing the most comprehensive and easy to use workflow solutions that enable scientists to produce better outcomes for the life sciences.

    Support for third party instruments in Empower CDS software is a key value proposition for our customers. You will be the technical liaison working to enrich our current partnerships, and building relationships with new instrument partners.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for articulating the vision for specific applications or product components within Empower across both the Waters Informatics business and the wider corporation.
    • Define the product backlog working closely with multiple agile teams to develop and harmonize requirements
    • Accountable for the definition and prioritization of the product backlog that will deliver the business value 
    • Build a network of channels and contributors to harvest “Voice of the Customer” requirements into comprehensive and justifiable product requirements
    • Ensure that clear Milestone Goals and objectives are set and communicated effectively so that Project Manager can maximize visibility and transparency across the Program. 
    • Act as technical advisor and conduit between other departments/vertical markets
    • Monitor end-to-end product lifecycle and positioning in the market place
    • Ensure prioritization of all product related issues within other departments to maximize commercial opportunity; this includes Sales, Marketing, Research & Development, Service, Technical Support and Production
    • Align product lifecycle decisions with other Waters products and services in order to harmonize product offerings and maximize market potential

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Life Science, Chemistry or appropriate scientific field
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience with relevant laboratory software
    • Strong knowledge of Chromatography instruments and related software is strongly preferred
    • Experience working as a product owner within an agile environment is strongly desired
    • Travel both domestically and internationally is required (estimated 20-30% of time)
