  • Overview

    Waters is currently looking for a Market Development Manager, Pharmaceutical Discovery, Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK). Join our dynamic field organization to help our pharmaceutical customers make profound discoveries, optimize lab operations, deliver product performance, and ensure regulatory compliance.  You will work with the Americas Sales Organization throughout North and South America to design and implement marketing initiatives to drive business effectiveness and revenue growth in Waters fastest growing market segment.

    As a market development manager, you will be the primary resource for deploying corporate strategic programs that you will optimize for the Americas markets.  There will also be ample opportunities to develop initiatives that leverage unique Americas market dynamics.

    Market focus shall be innovator pharmaceutical, generic pharmaceutical, and contract organizations with job functions extending across all facets of the product discovery and DMPK characterization process.  The entire Waters product portfolio is utilized.  This position is based out of Milford, MA and business travel is required. 


    • Tactical Plan Design and Execution: Developing and successfully implementing a business plan that is aligned with the corporate strategy to deliver the Americas revenue goal for the pharmaceutical discovery and DMPK segment. This includes service sales strategies, as well as tactics to promote awareness of Waters products and solutions (e.g., marketing communications, seminars, user meetings, customer visits, representation at relevant meetings and tradeshows, internal training, etc.).
    • Strategic Sales Development: Providing guidance and support to the Waters sales and service organization with the development/implementation of their regional business plan and ensuring that these business plans are aligned with Waters’ overall business goals and objectives for the pharmaceutical discovery and DMPK segment.
    • Business Reporting: Maintaining appropriate records of the pharmaceutical discovery and DMPK pipeline and orders for the purpose of measuring achievement of budgeted goal. Communicating business metrics to senior and executive management teams.
    • Market Trend Analysis: Spotting trends in the pharmaceutical discovery and DMPK segment and communicating these to the corporate pharmaceutical business management group.  Identify potential business opportunities for Waters.  Fully understand, maintain and report on competitive activities and positioning.
    • Support of Sales and Service Teams: Maintaining regular dialogue and assisting with the sales and service teams’ activities.  This includes supporting local tactical promotions, educating field teams on pharmaceutical discovery and DMPK solutions, value proposition, etc.
    • Advocate for Internal and External Customer Needs: Being an advocate for Americas’ internal and external customers such that training, product, services, and business requirements are met.  Work across the product, pharmaceutical segment and geographic organizations to build consensus and influence to affect change.  
    • Contribute to Strategic Business Plan: Collaborate with global discovery and DMPK segment team, product marketing, and field marketing from other geographies to develop our annual global strategic business plan for services.


    • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in scientific or engineering discipline
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales and marketing, preferably with Waters products
    • Proven ability to develop and execute business plans
    • Understanding of the biopharmaceutical and/or pharmaceutical industry
    • Excellent interpersonal skills: communicate effectively, drive execution, foster innovation, focus on the customer, collaborate with others, solve problems creatively
    • Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet Waters core values
    • Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all corporate departments
    • Self-motivated with the ability to flexibly respond to changing demands
