The Financial Analyst I will partner with the business in order to support the newly formed Instrument Product Development organization and Research within Waters Milford. This position will help operational managers understand their business, react to changes and identify future opportunities through month end reporting, analysis, budgeting/forecasting, product costing, and special projects.


  • Provide business support to both Instrument Product Development and Research to understand their effectiveness through detailed monitoring of expenses and capital.
  • Manage and execute month end closing activities including variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, headcount and capital.
  • Foster business partnerships with the generation and presentation of monthly and quarterly reports that help operational directors better understand their business.
  • Responsible for the annual budget process for the groups within Instrument Product Development and Research.
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis upon request.
  • Own new product costing and analysis for LC products, and assist in product cost issues for existing products.


  • Bachelors Degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance related field of study.
  • Minimum 1+ years related work experience with accounting exposure strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work closely in a fast paced team environment with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and continual process improvement.
  • Position requires organization, attention to detail and a commitment to quality output.
  • Ability to work with multiple departments and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Initiative to start and complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Experience with accounting within R&D, Research or Manufacturing environments a plus.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, solid skills in Excel and data management are a must.
  • Experience with SAP/Analysis/BPC is an advantage.
