Waters is focused on delivering benefit: to our customers, to our employees and to the broader community.  As the leading specialty measurement company in the world, we are currently seeking a dynamic, driven individual to fill the role of a Food Inside Sales Specialist within our Milford based Inside Sales team.  In this role, you will have primary responsibility for driving sales of our full range of solutions and services within the Food and environmental market space. These include our Liquid Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, Informatics, consumables and services products. The desired candidate should be a self starter who is focused on customer success. 


Working in a team environment is critical to the Inside Sales role, Food.   The successful candidate will take the corporate strategy and translate that into an actionable operating plan, honed for the Food and Environment markets nationwide.  This will include leveraging the expertise of your colleagues within our marketing, specialist and support teams to give our customers an outstanding experience with Waters. An aggressive call cycle to maximize time in front of customers and market development activities to help develop and cultivate new customers. The foundation of the Inside Sales Specialist role is to develop a keen understanding of the customers' needs and challenges; designing solutions with lasting and meaningful business impact to our customers. 


The role of food and environmental testing laboratories has never been more critical. Safety and quality are of major concern to consumers, water municipalities, state and federal governments, food producers and manufacturers of food products.  These groups face a variety of challenges, including a growing number of contaminants, lower limits of detection, more stringent regulations, protection of trade markets, preservation of brand image, and increased competition.


Waters Corporation is a leader in developing environmental and food testing systems.  These systems integrate sample prep, separation chemistries, analytical instrumentation and data management software into a solution based offering. These solutions enable food and environmental laboratories to identify diverse chemical compounds, meet or exceed compliance requirements, decrease operation costs, increase productivity, and, most importantly, help ensure public safety.


  • Working in a matrix environment, the individual will drive sales growth of both LC/MS instrumentation and Chemistry Consumables products, both independently and collaboratively, in the Food Market.
  • Responsible for driving business within all sales districts (North, East, Central, West)
  • Meet daily and weekly productivity metrics (phone calls, phone attempts, e-mail...etc)
  • Increasing market-share at existing accounts and prospecting new business opportunities.
  • Utilizing telephone and electronic sales communication methodologies (email, voicemail etc…) team members will communicate with and sell to laboratory end users and decision makers. 
  • Collaborate with Field Sales counterparts to drive business.
  • Utilizing Waters’ internal CRM database as a tool for tracking sales activities, open opportunities and campaign follow-up initiatives.
  • Preparing and implementing comprehensive Business Development activities for their assigned sales territory/market.
  • Delivering concise and relevant reports and updates on business development initiatives.
  • Occasionally traveling to their specified sales territory to support customer visits, seminars, internal planning meetings etc. 



  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field of study.  Chemistry or Biochemistry Degrees strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years of analytical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Understanding LC/MS instrumentation highly preferred. 
  • Customer facing experience is preferred.
  • Experience within a food environment is a plus.
  • Previous sales experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of CRM database utility in order to facilitate customer contact, ROI of sales campaigns and territory forecasting preferred.
  • Candidate must be customer-focused and have exceptional written, verbal and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PPT).
