As the leading specialty measurement company in the world, we are currently seeking a dynamic, driven individual to fill the role of an Food Account Manager within our Central Region. The position will be based in the Chicago area.  In this role, you will have primary responsibility for driving sales of our full range of solutions and services within the Food market space. These include our Liquid Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, Informatics, consumables and services products.. The desired candidate should be a self starter who is focused on customer success.


Working in a team environment is critical to the Food Account Manager role.   The successful candidate will take the corporate strategy and translate that into an actionable operating plan, honed for the Food market in the Central region. This will include leveraging the expertise of your colleagues within our marketing, specialist and support teams to give our customers an outstanding experience with Waters. An aggressive call cycle to maximize time in front of customers and market development activities to help develop and cultivate new customers. The foundation of the Food account manager's role is to develop a keen understanding of the customers' needs and challenges; designing solutions with lasting and meaningful business impact to our customers. 


The role of food testing laboratories has never been more critical. Safety and quality are of major concern to consumers, state and federal governments, food producers and manufacturers of food products. These groups face a variety of challenges, including a growing number of contaminants, lower limits of detection, more stringent regulations, protection of trade markets, preservation of brand image, and increased competition.


Waters Corporation is a leader in developing food testing systems. These systems integrate sample prep, separation chemistries, analytical instrumentation and data management software into a solution based offering. These solutions enable food laboratories to identify diverse chemical compounds, meet or exceed compliance requirements, decrease operation costs, increase productivity, and, most importantly, help ensure public safety.


  • Aggressively develop new prospects and penetrate competitive accounts while maintaining current customer base for assigned market
  • Perform solution based selling to meet or exceed sales targets
  • Implement strategic sales initiatives into the district that are consistent with corporate goals and objectives
  • Keep current on assigned market dynamics, application trends, and competitive information
  • Manage forecasting, establishment of sales goals and pipeline management
  • Maintain installed based customer satisfaction
  • Develop and maintain technical competency with Waters solutions to be recognized by customers as a credible resource
  • Fully utilize our sales contact management tools and applications.
  • Participate in trade shows and local technical seminars as required
  • Travel within the territory will be at least 50%


  • Degree BS / Master / PHD in scientific areas: such as chemistry, biology, or biochemistry
  • At least 3 years experience chromatography. UPLC, Mass Spec, field sales and / or marketing is a plus
  • Action orientation and self-driven for results
  • Good communication and Presentation Skills
  • Good organization / planning / time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a good listener
  • Matured disposition, positive attitude and strong sense of commitment
  • Adaptive to dynamic and changing environment
  • Strong technical background in Analytical Technologies, LC and MS Especially
