In this newly created role, you and your team supports leadership by driving insights that help stakeholders better understand business trends. Your team leverages reporting tools and ad hoc analysis to pull out relevant data, provide trend reporting, develops KPI frameworks to better understand holistic performance, and performs deep ad hoc analysis and “what if” scenario building to better inform business decisions. 


Working as part of the Commercial Operations team, a critical component of this job is to develop a comprehensive analytic and fact-based reporting offering that influences decision making to drive greater revenue and value in accordance with legal and compliance guidelines.


This role requires in-depth experience with a variety of measurement and research methods, forecasting techniques, reporting and analytic platforms, strategic planning, project management, data sourcing and evaluation, financial analysis, and includes management responsibility.



Develop and lead a Commercial analytics and Data strategy organization for Waters

  • Develop a robust operating model and governance process for the Commercial analytics team
  • Build an optimal organizational design with clearly defined roles and responsibilities to meet the business needs for the commercial stakeholders
  • Create a governance process for the intake of requests and prioritization
  • Design and implement a commercial analytics platform
  • Understand what questions commercial analytics can answer, how those insights fit into our business processes and who needs access to them.
  • Develop a common analytics “language” and mindset in the Commercial organization (Marketing, Sales and service)


Develop a data strategy for the Commercial organization

  • Develop a clear strategy on how to procure the right kind of data, how to integrate the data into our data foundation with the right integrity and quality, and how to manage the data on an ongoing basis in a way that the value of the data is maximized.
  • Establish guidelines, rules and standards to improve data quality.
  • Establish scalable data technologies, data governance and data stewardship processes Create a governance process for the intake of requests and prioritization Develop a set of global metrics for the entire commercial funnel


Work collaboratively across the Commercial organization to increase Commercial effectiveness and efficiency

  • Work across multiple functions (HR, Field Leadership, IT, Marketing, Finance, etc.) to develop a consistent approach to commercial analytics globally.
  • Lead cross functional teams to identify and develop commercial dashboards to day to day commercial leadership including marketing, sales and service incorporating current best practices.
  • Incorporate existing metrics into the commercial dashboards
  • Work with IT to evaluate existing reporting tools and develop strategy for improving tools and data to provide commercial analytics globally including Customer Data mastering
  • Leverage Value Stream Mapping to harmonize data and the data processes across 3 regions (Americas, Europe & India, APAC)
  • Act a key member of the Commercial Operations Leadership team whose responsibility is to set sales strategy and align functions and optimize organizational performance
  • Works closely with sales management to inspect sales process quality and prioritize opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead, develop & motivate a direct team of analytics & data professionals




  • Bachelor’s degree required; MA/MS/MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience leading commercial analytics & data strategy teams. Experience in the sciences or tech industries preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and quantitative skills with expertise in the tools of secondary data analysis and forecasting
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Significant track record of successfully leading a team and coaching direct reports
