Working as part of the Commercial Operations team at Waters, this role requires in-depth experience with a variety of measurement and research methods, forecasting techniques, reporting and analytic platforms, strategic planning, project management, data sourcing and evaluation, financial analysis, and includes management responsibility. A critical component of this job is to develop a comprehensive analytic and fact-based reporting offering that influences decision making to drive greater revenue and value in accordance with legal and compliance guidelines.


In this newly created role, you and your team supports leadership by driving insights that help stakeholders better understand business trends. Your team leverages reporting tools and ad hoc analysis to pull out relevant data, provide trend reporting, develops KPI frameworks to better understand holistic performance, and performs deep ad hoc analysis and “what if” scenario building to better inform decisions. 



  • Develop a Commercial analytics and Data strategy for Waters to inform decision making across the sales, service & marketing (commercial) organization
  • Lead cross functional teams to identify and develop commercial dashboards to day to day commercial leadership including marketing, sales and service incorporating current best practices.
  • Leverage existing data and new tools to create actionable data to deliver more organic growth
  • Develop metrics for the entire commercial funnel including sales coverage, customer penetration, sales process effectiveness, sales rep effectiveness, marketing and campaign effectiveness to create a 360 view of the customer for the commercial organization
  • Incorporate existing service metrics into the commercial dashboards
  • Work with IT to evaluate existing reporting tools and develop strategy for improving tools and data to provide commercial analytics globally
  • Develop data strategy for using existing data and acquiring external data
  • Develop a Data Governance process for the commercial organization
  • Establish a strategical practical vision of data quality objectives that will generate common rules & standards (Harmonize data)
  • Develop strategy and implement technology solution for Customer Data Mastering
  • Leverage Value Stream Mapping to harmonize data processes across 3 regions (Americas, EU, APAC)
  • Act a key member of the Commercial Operations Leadership team whose responsibility is to set sales strategy and align functions and optimize organizational performance
  • Works across multiple functions (HR, Field Leadership, Marketing, Finance, etc.) to develop a consistent approach to commercial analytics globally.
  • Works closely with sales management to inspect sales process quality and prioritize opportunities for improvement. Assists sales management in understanding data process bottlenecks and inconsistencies. Facilitates a commercial organization of continuous process improvement
  • Lead rigorous, analytics-based decision support, including data analytics, forecasting and insight generation
  • Monitor in-line portfolio performance and generate insights to drive continuous improvement for our Commercial strategy
  • Lead & develop a team of global director/manager level analytics & data professionals



  • Bachelor’s degree required; MA/MS/MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience leading commercial analytics & data strategy teams. Experience in the sciences or tech industries preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and quantitative skills with expertise in the tools of secondary data analysis and forecasting
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple non-connected projects and prioritize time/activities
  • Knowledge of various sales strategies, as well as broad base business acumen
  • Ability to develop new sales strategies, build business cases, gain internal/external support, and drive implementation
  • Significant track record of successfully leading a team and coaching direct reports
  • Ability to set organizational resources to best achieve success on a variety of projects while properly managing time
  • The ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required (up to 25%)
