The Clinical Technical Specialist is responsible for supporting all aspects of our clinical market segment including both liquid chromatography (LC) and mass spectrometry (MS) products. The Clinical Technical Specialist will primarily provide on-site support for escalated service situations, application support, and telephone technical support. In addition, the Clinical Technical Specialist will follow our Clinical Complaint Handling process for Waters Clinical product offerings ensuring a high level of cGMP compliance.


This position can either be based either in the Dallas or Houston, TX area. The position requires significant travel within the assigned territory including overnight. 



  • Support Waters clinical plan customers and ensure the requirements of the plan are achieved
  • Perform technical support for the clinical customer
  • Provide support internally for local field service engineers while they assist clinical customers, including clinical installations
  • Provide assistance with clinical sites that have been escalated internally where the local engineer cannot resolve the issue
  • Review and close customer complaints within the Customer Interaction Tracking  Database (CIT)
  • Work closely with the Clinical Quality Group to ensure complaint investigations are complete, thorough, and meet regulatory reporting requirements both domestic and international
  • Conduct audits of the Field Service Report Database to ensure onsite customer visits are complete and meet internal service and preventative maintenance procedures



  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering or related field of study
  • Minimum of 3+ years work experience specializing in mass spectrometry, preferably as an engineer or within a clinical laboratory setting
  • LC experience preferred but not required
  • Strong technical support, maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting experience with LC/MS instrumentation
  • Previous experience developing methods utilizing LC or MS instrumentation (preferably Waters) in a clinical, forensics, hospital or IVD lab setting strongly preferred
  • Experience with Customer Complaint Handling in the biotechnology, medical device or pharmaceutical industry preferred but not required
  • General understanding of domestic and international requirements for Complaint Handling, Medical Device Reporting and Vigilance preferred
  • Proven track record of excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Result oriented with a balance of excellent team cooperation
  • Strong networking and communication skills to interact with customers and internal Waters staff
