Overview

The Software Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining Waters Golden information technology (IT) applications. The Software Developer will work closely with Waters headquarters Business Technology department, Manufacturing, Technical Support, Customer Support, Sales and other functional teams to troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade Waters Golden IT applications.  This role will be part of a team that strives to provide IT solutions within budget and schedule.  This role may include coordination of efforts between local, off-shore and third party resources.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC). The ideal candidate will be able to support multiple applications simultaneously while delivering excellent customer service to internal end-users. The ideal candidate will be skilled in the front-end, back end, business-logic layers, software architecture, QA testing, and web-server maintenance.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Develop new information technology applications (50%)

  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and create use cases for new applications. Develop thorough understanding of business processes, stakeholders and priorities.
  • Convert use cases into reliable, testable and maintainable application code.
  • Perform unit tests to verify use cases and logical sections of code.
  • Work with end users to support end user application testing to identify, document and address defects and support end user adoption.
  • Learn new technologies and applications.
  • Customize third party applications.

 

Maintenance of information technology applications (35%)

  • Provide excellent and timely customer service to internal end-users.
  • Troubleshoot and fix issues with custom applications, customer relationship management (CRM), Dynamics Great Plains, DotNetNuke (DNN) and other business applications.
  • Recommend functionality changes to existing applications based on experience and an understanding of Waters Golden business practices.
  • Document applications when changes are completed.
  • Assist teammates with difficult development or troubleshooting challenges.
  • Learn new technologies and methods of development.

 

Special Projects (15%)

  • Work with cross-functional teams to recommend innovative solutions to business problems.
  • Special projects may include new CRM evaluation/implementation, web and ecommerce platform transition and or other projects.
  • Work with IT team and business stakeholders to prioritize and allocate time and resources to support special projects and support ongoing business.

Qualifications

 

Required Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, comparable area of study, or similar relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years’ related work experience in information technology ideally with Visual Studio, C#, T-SQL, JavaScript, ASP.Net MVC, HTML, CSS in a Windows environment.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience in Knockout, WCF Web Services, REST, JQuery, Microsoft Entity Framework, Microsoft SSRS, Internet Information Services (IIS) Management, Unit Test.
  • Experiences with Microsoft Dynamics CRM or Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains systems are a plus.
  • Experience with project management, software design, relational databases, object-oriented design, or N-tier architecture are helpful.
  • Degree or courses in chemistry, math, or similar area of study are helpful.
