Overview

At TA Instruments the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the manufacturing engineering activities of development and production programs through: the application of engineering procedures, which may involve theoretical and experimental investigation, technical direction and coordination, conception and planning of resources to support hardware requirement and; the analysis, evaluation and solution of technical problems encountered in the application of manufacturing methods, facilities, processes, materials and tooling incident to the fabrication and assembly of high technology instruments.

Responsibilities

 The manufacturing engineering activities may involve:

    • Theoretical and experimental investigation
    • Technical direction and coordination
    • Conception and planning of resources to support hardware requirements
    • The analysis, evaluation, and solution of technical problems encountered in the application of manufacturing methods, facilities, processes, materials and tooling incident to the fabrication and assembly of high technology instruments

 

  • Responsible for maintaining the design of released products with the goal of continuously improving quality, customer satisfaction, efficiency of production and cost effectiveness
  • Responsible for reviewing incoming orders to ensure they are correct and complete and creating an electronic folder of appropriate production documentation to allow the production technician to successfully complete the build and validation of the product
  • Follows established policies and procedures, performs professional manufacturing engineering assignments requiring full use and application of standard manufacturing principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
  • Analyzes engineering drawings and support documentation for application to project requirements and producibility
  • Provides imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving conventional utilization of manufacturing engineering techniques
  • May participate in development and implementation of minor product extensions to meet customer specific product requirements
  • Participates in development process to insure manufacturability, quality, and cost effectiveness of new products.  Evaluates and selects appropriate manufacturing processes and suppliers.  Leads effort to establish in-house assembly & test procedures
  • Investigates problems which arise in-house and at suppliers during the fabrication, assembly, and test of instruments and develops, evaluates, and implements solutions.  Analyzes problem data (PTL & RN) for trends and problem frequencies for prioritization of longer term solutions

 

 

Qualifications

 

Four year degree and a minimum of five years’ experience in electrical engineering or closely related field.  Prior experience with Analytical Instrumentation is a plus.

  • Should have comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated application of engineering principles, theories, concepts, and procedures used for the development of analytical instrumentation
  • Ability to work with others as an effective team member
