The IT Manager plans and manages Information Technology operations for Waters Golden. Directs and coordinates information systems and telecommunications operations within the company; plans, directs, coordinates, and participates in application support activities, systems and development activities, and network and technical services activities; provides highly technical and responsible staff assistance; manages IT projects and budgets; serves as IT Department Head.


Leadership and Supervision (40% of time)

  • Responsible for day to day IT operations
  • Effectively lead, set direction and goals for IT staff
  • Work closely with other managers to champion Information Technology within the company
  • Plan for, select, manage, and evaluate IT staff
  • Prepare 1, 3 and 5 year technology plans for the site in conjunction with business and corporate strategic plans
  • Work closely with Golden Leadership Team to plan yearly budget and projects based on company goals for the year
  • Prepare and submit yearly ERA IT budget (Opex and CapEx planned expenditures)
  • Determine the schedule of IT projects throughout the year
  • Function as the primary IT liaison between Waters Golden and Waters Milford
  • Attend regular conference calls with Corporate IT staff to keep them apprised of Golden IT activities.


Software Development (40% of time)

    • Identify and manage a common/unified software development strategy and road-map.
    • Evaluate, make recommendations for and approve software designs and implementation strategies
    • Manage day-to-day software maintenance activities including setting priorities and work load for staff developers
    • Estimate scope and cost for IT development projects
    • Work with outside staffing companies on contract negotiations, staffing of projects, budget management and scheduling
    • Define statements of work for contractor projects
    • Accurately project budgets and forecasts 



Infrastructure and Operations (20% of time)

  • Manage and oversee implementation and maintenance of network security processes in coordination with Waters Corporate IT and security teams
  • Plan for future network needs and identify solutions to satisfy needs
  • Oversee and plan the management of the company communication system (telephone, voice-mail, email)
  • Maintain an IT asset management program
  • Establish and maintain relationships with IT vendors
  • Negotiate contracts with IT vendors in coordination with Corporate legal, purchasing and local General Manager
  • Conduct and implement capacity plan in coordination with corporate and site management

Supervisory Responsibility

The position has direct supervisory responsibility for Development and the Infrastructure and Operations/Helpdesk personnel located in Golden as well as responsible for supervision of contractors and consultants doing work on Golden technology systems.


Work Environment/Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to visibly and physically inspect facilities including but not limited to areas for production, storage, testing, receiving, shipping and facility external grounds . This requires the ability to recognize and respect hazardous area designations and occasional handling of hazardous material.  


Position may require occasional after hours response to security or emergency notifications. Position may require occasional evening or weekend implementation, maintenance or troubleshooting of software or hardware resources



This position requires domestic and international travel that may include overnights, weekend and/or occasional travel on holidays. Expected travel percentage less than 20% though may be higher at times.



Required Education and Experience

  • 7 or more years’ experience in similar role
  • 5 or more years of technology project management experience
  • 3 years of software or database development experience


Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from and accredited college with major course work in Computer Science or related field
