Overview

The Director, IT HCM Lead & Business Partner is accountable for end‑to‑end leadership of Waters’ Human Capital Management (HCM) technology landscape, serving as both the IT HCM platform lead and the primary IT business partner to Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).

Acting as a trusted advisor to HRIS leadership, this role ensures HR capabilities are enabled through scalable, secure, and well‑governed technology solutions that support global workforce strategy, operational excellence, and continuous transformation. This role will support strategic direction, roadmap, and value realization of HR technology solutions, including SAP SuccessFactors, SAP ERP integrations, and Other Critical Integrations (Payroll, Travel & Expense, etc).  

Responsibilities

Strategic IT Business Partnership

  • Act as the primary IT business partner to HR leadership and COEs (Talent, Total Rewards, Payroll, Learning, HR Operations).
  • Translate HR strategy and business priorities into clear technology capabilities, initiatives, and investment plans.
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging HR technologies, including automation, analytics, and AI‑enabled HR solutions.

HCM Platform & Technology Leadership

  • Serve as the IT owner for the enterprise HCM ecosystem, including:
    • SAP SuccessFactors (Core HCM, Talent, Learning, and future expansion)
    • SAP ERP integrations supporting employee and payroll‑related processes
  • Collaborate on the HCM technology roadmap, aligned to HR strategy and enterprise IT standards.
  • Ensure platforms are scalable, secure, compliant, and optimized for global use.
  • Partner closely with Information Security and IAM teams to enforce role‑based access and controls across HR systems.

 

Demand, Portfolio & Delivery Management

  • Own HR IT demand intake, prioritization, and governance.
  • Balance regulatory, operational, and transformational initiatives across the HR portfolio.
  • Partner with IT delivery teams, architects, security, and vendors to ensure successful execution.
  • Track outcomes, benefits, and value realization of HCM initiatives.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with IT Operations teams to ensure reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of HR platforms.
  • Partner with Teams to help drive platform optimization, standardization, and reduction of technical debt.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor HR‑focused IT resources (internal and external), setting clear direction and expectations.
  • Foster strong collaboration across IT, HR, Finance, Security, and external partners.
  • Operate effectively in a global, matrixed environment across time zones.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in HR technology, HCM platform leadership, or IT business partnering.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise HCM platforms such as SAP SuccessFactors.
  • Strong experience delivering integrations, workflow automation, and monitoring across HR systems
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with senior HR leaders and influence outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of security, IAM, data privacy, and compliance in HR environments.
