Overview

In this role, you'll be a key member of the CPQ team within the IT department implementing SAP CPQ to modernize our platform at Waters. You'll help deliver new capabilities to enable our global Sales and Service teams to quote and sell more efficiently, driving margin and revenue growth.

 

As the CPQ Principal Solution Architect, you will work closely with the broader IT CPQ team and business stakeholders providing a strategic impact. You will be responsible for designing, configuring, and integrating the CPQ platform to support scalable, efficient, and accurate quoting processes, in conjunction with the CPQ Technical Lead/Architect, CPQ Business Analyst, and CPQ Developer. This role combines deep functional CPQ expertise with hands-on technical and integration skills, acting as a bridge between business requirements and system implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Drive SAP CPQ solutions, ensuring seamless integration across the Lead-to-Cash lifecycle (CRM to ERP) to meet complex business needs.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into high-level designs, user stories, data models, and process flows, ensuring alignment with the SAP CPQ Lead Architect and the broader delivery team.
  • Recommend and evaluate strategies for how to leverage SAP CPQ to meet business needs, based on deep knowledge of SAP CPQ and related technologies, following best practices.
  • Articulate complex ideas, comprehend written and verbal communications, and possess excellent presentation skills.
  • Partner across the eco-system with Salesforce, S/4HANA, Pricing, and other architects to define end-to-end process flows, specifically managing the hand-off from Quote to Order Management.
  • Directly initiate and advise on the end-to-end design, development, and execution of complex feature enhancements; perform advanced platform administration in close conjunction with the SAP CPQ Lead Architect and Salesforce Architects to ensure a unified Lead-to-Cash ecosystem.
  • Proactively identify project risks and dependencies, providing alternative solutions to minimize risk.
  • Develop the team’s competency in best practices and techniques to administer and configure SAP CPQ and related solutions, ensuring the CPQ solution adheres to best practices in conjunction with the CPQ technical architect.
  • Provide root cause analysis for escalated or systemic issues and support the run team in troubleshooting and performance challenges as needed.
  • Interact effectively at all levels of the organization with strong customer, quality, and outcome-based orientation.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in CPQ Solution Architecture, with a proven track record of delivering end-to-end Lead-to-Cash solutions in complex enterprise environments.
  • Deep expertise in SAP CPQ (CallidusCloud) or similar platform.
  • Demonstrated experience designing integrations between CPQ and CRM (Salesforce/MS Dynamics) and downstream ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of SAP Integration Suite (CPI) and how CPQ interacts with SAP Variant Configuration (VC) and S/4HANA highly desired
  • Expert-level capability in translating complex business processes into scalable solutions.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to bridge the gap between technical constraints and Sales/Pricing business objectives.
