About the role:

Waters is looking for a Technology Director, B2B Integration and EDI Platforms —a visionary technologist and inspiring leader— who will lead the strategy, implementation, and operations of Waters’ enterprise integration ecosystem—owning both the current Seeburger EDI platform and the rollout of the new OpenText B2B/EDI platform. This role ensures reliable, secure, and scalable electronic data exchange across global Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and supply chain processes, supporting seamless transactions with Customers, Suppliers, Financial Institutions, and Logistics Providers.

 

This leader will drive platform modernization, partner enablement, operational excellence, and a structured migration path from legacy technologies to a future-ready B2B Integration platform/ ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Platform Strategy & Roadmap

  • Own the vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for B2B/EDI platforms, covering both Seeburger  and OpenText
  • Define modernization and migration strategy, including partner migration sequencing, testing frameworks, and cutover governance.
  • Align platform architecture with enterprise integration standards, security requirements, and data governance frameworks.

 

Cross-Functional & Executive Leadership

  • Balance the needs of the various business units, and blend them to create a seamless, state-of-the-art B2B experience
  • Develop and sustain effective relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, providing insights, thought leadership and guidance on changing industry landscape and opportunities to use existing technologies.
  • Serve as the primary integration technology liaison for Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, Customer Operations, and Commercial teams.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture, ERP teams (ECC/S4), Integration Services (middleware), and Cybersecurity to ensure platform alignment.
  • Communicate platform progress, risks, and KPIs to executive stakeholders (CIO, Supply Chain, Finance, Commercial leaders etc.).
  • Drive change management, training, and communications across global teams.

Platform Implementation, Support and Optimization

  • Lead the end-to-end design, build, and deployment of the OpenText platform.
  • Partner with Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Finance, and Supply Chain leaders to define functional requirements and transaction flows.
  • Establish integration patterns (EDI, API, hybrid), partner onboarding processes, and service-level expectations.
  • Oversee vendor resources, technical teams, and project delivery milestones.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, reliability, and enhancement of the EDI platforms.
  • Ensure stability, monitoring, and performance optimization during the coexistence period.
  • Lead incident response, problem management, and transaction exception reduction for Seeburger-based integrations

People and Financial Management

  • Attract, retain, and develop top technical talent with deep expertise in B2B and EDI engineering.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to engineers, promoting growth in architectural thinking, debugging, and performance tuning.
  • Manage and maintain department budget and forecast and ensure initiatives meet budget guidelines

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience with EDI/B2B integration platforms, including Seeburger, OpenText, GXS, and similar.
  • Strong understanding of O2C and P2P business processes and related EDI transactions (e.g., 850, 810, 855, 856, 820).
  • Proven experience leading large integration programs, platform transitions, or modernization initiatives.
  • Demonstrated leadership across cross-functional global teams and external trading partners.
  • Experience integrating with SAP Commerce and/or S/4HANA.
  • Experience leading efforts in agile/scrum environments with knowledge of project planning, staffing, and estimating in an agile software development process.
  • Strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to identify issues, solve them quickly
