  • Produce responsive UI designs across different platforms, including browser-based and mobile contexts.
  • Prepare engineering-ready deliverables (component specs, Figma designs, annotations) and collaborate with developers to maintain design fidelity.
  • Participate in collaborative design reviews with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals and technical feasibility.
  • Extend and maintain the design system, ensuring consistency across products.
  • Identify customer unmet needs and improvement opportunities through user and stakeholder engagement and research.

Evaluative / Usability Testing

  • Develop test protocols and scripts, define success metrics, and synthesize findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to prioritize usability issues and track improvements over time.
  • Analyze product analytics and user behavior data to inform iterative design improvements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design (Graphic, Interaction, HCI, Product design) or related field.
  • 5+ years in UX design for digital products across multiple platforms (desktop, mobile, touchscreen).
  • Portfolio demonstrating design work from concept to shipped product, including usability testing insights.
  • Proficiency in Figma (or similar) for wireframing, prototyping, and design systems.
  • Experience conducting usability testing and applying findings to improve designs.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate design rationale and influence stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript capabilities and constraints.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with complex system design (web-based applications for data analysis; scientific domain a plus).
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and defining user-centered KPIs.
  • Experience building or extending design systems.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG).
