Overview

As an Electrical Engineering Co-op in the Waters Global Research organization, you will be part a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers responsible for the early research and development of next generation technologies used in chromatography and mass spectrometry analytical instrumentation. You will work to design, build, and test prototype electrical, mechanical, and software components required to develop proof-of-concept prototype instruments. 

Responsibilities

  • Design, assemble & test various electro/mechanical instruments and assemblies to meet department goals and objectives 
  • Design and build microcontroller circuits, and develop initial software for controllers 
  • Troubleshoot electro/mechanical problems in a variety of instruments and equipment 
  • Work effectively in both an individual and cross-functional team environment  
  • Present findings to a cross-functional group of scientists and engineers in team meetings 

Qualifications

  • Working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline 
  • Be capable of lab testing circuits using electrical test equipment including logic analyzers, oscilloscopes and emulators 
  • Desire to learn and apply scientific/engineering principles in a research environment 
  • Basic electrical, mechanical, and chemical knowledge 
  • Experience in programming embedded microcontrollers 
  • Experience with programing languages C/C++, Python is a plus 
  • Data collection, graphing, and interpretation skills 
  • Self-motivated 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
