Overview

Our Corporate Communications team has a Communications Specialist opening for a highly motivated individual that is at the start of their communications career. This role will support external communications through integrated campaigns that highlight Waters’ innovation and impact, including press announcements, media relations, social media, and written and visual content. This exciting opportunity is aimed at creating exposure across public company external communications and building a strong foundation in public relations and social media through hands-on experience. Reporting to the Head of External Communications, this role will have the support of a highly skilled and experienced communications team and our agency partners.

The candidate must possess a strong interest in and commitment to building a deep knowledge of our business and science, as well as establishing trust and connections across the company. The successful candidate will be strategic, collaborative, driven, curious, creative, detail oriented, and self-directed. The candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, and welcome new ways to optimize our external communications program and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively shape public relations narratives that educate and resonate with the general public and key company stakeholders.
    • Disseminate narratives across channels, audiences, and regions to build and sustain awareness for Waters’ innovation and excellence.
    • Initiate relationships across the company to source customer stories and value propositions that reinforce core external messages.
  • Create social media content and visual assets that highlight our people, culture, innovations, corporate news, and Waters’ impact on health and well-being.
    • Collaborate with business partners to align social content to corporate strategy and outcomes.
  • Approach communications strategies and campaigns with a data-driven lens.
    • Help to shape success metrics for public relations, media relations, and social media programs.
    • Benchmark success with KPIs; leverage data to demonstrate communications impact and optimize current processes and results.
    • Source data to educate business partners on communications best-practices and value.
  • Support media outreach, content development, and reporting for our trade media program.
  • Bring your own ideas to the table to ensure we connect, inform, and engage our audiences.

Qualifications

  • Recent college graduate or early career with up to two years of experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, digital, and external communications skills
  • Ability to translate complex scientific content into engaging and succinct campaigns for external audiences
    • Driven to understand, simplify, and effectively communicate technical information
  • Serve as a trusted resource to educate business partners on external communications best-practices and offerings
  • Possess a problem-solving, growth-oriented, and collaborative mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to wisely prioritize and reprioritize work
  • Enthusiasm for integrated, external-facing communications along with the desire to keep pace with new developments
  • Appetite for continuous learning and advancement, including surfacing and proposing new ideas to achieve goals
  • Exceptional attention to detail across communications and channels
