Overview

Waters Corporation is currently seeking a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Site Manager to support research, laboratory and manufacturing at our company headquarters at Milford, MA facility. The Site HSE Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring site environmental and safety programs as well as educating and engaging employees at all levels with these programs. This position also leads HSE programs at our GDC as well as another local R&D facility, both within MA. This position is expected to be onsite all 5 business days (Monday through Friday) during normal business hours 8 am-5 pm.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage health, safety and environmental compliance and related continuous improvement programs
  • Develop, maintain and support the combined Health, Safety and Environmental Management System (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001)
  • Maintain license and permit requirements, air, wastewater, hazardous waste and stormwater pollution prevention
  • Develop and promote safety programs, safety awareness and HSE culture
  • Provide guidance and advice to employees, supervisors and managers on HSE compliance and best practices
  • Perform facility safety audits and inspections, including laboratory and manufacturing areas as needed
  • Conduct job hazard analyses and personal protective equipment assessments as needed
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and support and documentation of corrective actions
  • Conduct industrial hygiene surveys; administer and maintain biosafety, hearing conservation, and respiratory protection programs
  • Conduct employee HSE training and maintain associated training records
  • Oversee safety programs at Distribution Center and State Innovation lab facilities
  • Lead site specific initiatives and goals to support regional and Global Safety Objectives, participate in meetings, update KPI’s and safety metrics as needed
  • Other Safety duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications of the Site Manager:

  • 7+ years of prior experience in an HSE role in an industrial or laboratory setting
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local HSE regulations, including OSHA, EPA and DEP
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize, evaluate and recommend controls for workplace hazards
  • Demonstrated ability to execute work assignments and perform duties with or without direct supervision
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills, strong attention to detail needed
  • Superior communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to influence others and to work in a team environment in a collaborative and coachable manner
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to adapt and learn in a fast changing and dynamic work environment

Preferred Qualifications for the Site Manager:

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred
  • Experience with environmental permitting, hazardous waste management and ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 programs highly valued
  • Prior experience with biosafety is strongly preferred
  • Experience leading health and safety initiatives
  • Experience with program development and implementation of new or changing regulations
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, HSE management software and SAP
