Principal ABAP Developer

As a Principal SAP ABAP Developer, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of complex SAP ERP solutions using ABAP. This role demands deep technical expertise, leadership in guiding development teams, and a strong focus on delivering business outcomes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, high-performance solutions that align with Waters’ strategic goals.

• Analyze, implement, and develop new functionalities based on business requirements for large initiatives and smaller enhancements. 

• Conduct unit testing, systems integration testing, and performance testing as required. 

• Document design requirements and specifications, while maintaining comprehensive technical documentation. 

• Lead projects or significant portions of projects, coordinating with global teams. 

• Mentor and lead SAP ABAP developers and contractors, conducting code reviews and providing guidance. 

• Estimate effort and timelines for complex technical enhancements and projects. 

• Provide development expertise across multiple functional and technical applications. 

• Assess and allocate technical resources according to project needs, delegating tasks effectively. 

• Troubleshoot and provide production support, offering technical insights to resolve issues. 

• Collaborate with SAP OSS support team to address high-priority issues. 

• Perform routine administration and release management functions. 

• Participate in daily stand-ups to provide updates and ensure transparency within the team and across business partners. 

• Continuously learn new technologies such as Restful ABAP Programming and ABAP on Cloud. 

• Utilize ADT-based tools like Eclipse, Hana Studio, and web-based tools like BAS. 

Technical Skills: 

• Essential: SAP ABAP, S/4 HANA, Fiori, NetWeaver (Workflow, BAPI, Data Dictionary, Reports, Dialogue (Module Pool), BDCs, RFCs, ALE/EDI/IDOC, SAP Enhancements (User Exits), Lock Objects, SAP Script, Smart Forms, Search Help, BTEs, ABAP WebDynpro, ABAP objects, OO Programming, Conversions, Enhancements, BADI, Performance Tuning). 

• Preferred: BTP/CPI, JavaScript, CSS, HTML. 

Educational Qualification: 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
