Overview

Waters is seeking a Reliability Engineer II to join the Milford Operations Engineering organization. The Reliability Engineering (REL) Team is responsible for ensuring robustness and longevity of our products in typical customer applications. REL works closely with the Instrument Development Group (IDG) to evaluate new products and with Continuing Engineering (CE) for enhancements to existing products.

 

The Reliability Engineer helps define reliability goals, develop evaluation plans, assess risk and facilitates design improvements by working with project teams.  Activities include both hands on and office related work in a highly interactive environment.  Additional responsibilities for the Reliability Engineer II may include the supervision of engineering technicians, coordinating transactional activity with other functions and/or interfacing with suppliers.  This individual will collaborate closely with Quality, Production, Machining Operations and various other engineering disciplines to ensure our processes meet current cGMP and ISO 13484 standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide reliability engineering input as a member of new product development teams.
  • Work with new product development teams to establish reliability requirements, evaluation strategies and schedules in support of LC systems development
  • Work with Continuing Engineering to support enhancements to existing products throughout development, testing and implementation.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering in identifying in-house problems, implementing solutions, and supporting reliability initiatives / continuous improvement.
  • Conduct risk assessments and generate test plans to evaluate product and/or components
  • Analyze failure rates, failure modes, and failure mechanisms to determine root cause and support robust product design.
  • Communicate findings to project teams and/or Operations Management Teams through written communications and technical presentations.
  • Manage multiple projects in parallel.
  • Understand/use statistics, consult, problem solve/understand physical and practical relationships

Qualifications

  • BS in one of the following engineering disciplines; Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience preferably working on electro-mechanical scientific instrumentation
  • Experience in a lab environment is desirable
  • Knowledge of engineering and statistical modeling software such as MATLAB or Minitab is beneficial
