Overview

The Senior Buyer  role will be responsible for timely placement of purchase orders for our Milford Operations.  Delivery of materials and engineering samples in accordance with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) requirements to satisfy customer needs, production schedule, New Product Introduction (NPI) support and inventory goals objectives.  They will have a supporting role in strategic supplier development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Review purchase requisitions and convert them to purchase orders with dedication dates.
  • Ensure all purchased materials are in-house on time.
  • Reviewing open Purchase Orders status and Item Shortages; expediting as needed.
  • Monitor supplier open order reports and communicate with planning and production the updated delivery dates.
  • Identify and escalate critical supplier issues such as lead time changes, delivery, or quality performance concerns.
  • Monitoring / driving external operations (vendor operations – coating, plating, welding, etc.)
  • Monitoring price increases/fluctuations and communicating changes as vital.
  • Maintaining non-inventory & engineering purchase requisitions on an as-needed basis.
  • Acquiring quotes for purchased components.
  • Reviewing order points for inventory stock levels.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to achieve best results in resolving quality, cost, payment, and delivery issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience in technical or business field desired.

Experience:

  • 5-7  years of buying or planning experience in an ISO regulated manufacturing environment.
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience in technical or business field desired.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems, particularly SAP.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • NAPM or APICS certification (CPIM) desired.
