Overview

Waters Corporation is currently seeking an individual to join our organization as a Principal Product Owner for our Empower Software Portfolio. The successful candidate will be experienced in the use of chromatography software solutions for the routine use/service/support of analytical instrumentation. Additionally, a deep understanding of how Empower and related software systems are evaluated, deployed, and administered in support of analytical laboratories is preferred.


In this role you will use your understanding of user needs to plan, prioritize, and drive product development of Empower applications based on the latest technologies.

 

We are looking for a Product Owner who can collaborate with users, researchers, designers, and stakeholders across the business to solve complex problems with elegant solutions. We want to find someone who will become an advocate for our users and relentless in seeking ways to deliver products that exceed their expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Define a vision and strategy for your product area informed by company objectives, customer needs, and industry best practices
  • Successful candidates will operate at both the strategic and tactical levels and form strong cross-team partnerships that ensure combined success for the product area
  • Working in cross-functional teams with other departments to gather and analyze requirements and prioritize product related issues. Managing expectations and coordinating deliverables across teams is key in this role.
  • Breaking that vision and requirements down into an effective and prioritized product backlog with meaningful milestones that meet the needs of users and the business
  • Organizing, leading, and documenting interactions with customers
  • Communicating internally and externally, the benefit of software products through webcasts, demos, presentations, etc.
  • Acting as technical advisor and conduit between other departments
  • Aligning product lifecycle with other Waters products and services

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Life Science, or other related scientific discipline; Master’s or PhD preferred
  • 8+ years’ experience using liquid chromatography and laboratory data systems in one or more of Waters primary markets; hands on experience with Empower CDS is highly desirable.
  • Good Product Owner qualities are essential to this role. Those qualities are defined as:

  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (estimated: maximum 10-15% of time)

Preferred:

  • Experience with non-chromatographic analytical instruments in the QA/QC environment (e.g. microplate readers, UV-Vis or Raman spectrometers etc.) is highly desirable
  • Experience defining requirements and deploying highly-complex enterprise software products
  • An appreciation of APIs and third-party software integrations
  • Proven record of product delivery in a Product Owner role and knowledge of the software development process, especially Agile
