Overview

 

Waters Global Research is looking for an energetic and creative scientist to join the research team at in our Cambridge, MA lab to elevate PROTAC and molecular glues characterization and analysis.  This unique position sits at the intersection of Biology, Chemistry, and Analytical sciences and will require close collaboration with an industrial partner. The Global Research team is looking for an enthusiastic early career individual with experience in immunoassays, LC-MS, and protein chemistry to contribute to innovations in the analysis of next-generation therapeutics. The ideal candidate will help change how we think about problems, inspire new ideas, and challenge conventional approaches in bioanalytical chemistry.

 

The Waters Global Research team performs early, cutting-edge research on novel separation technologies and automation systems used in measurements of the life, food, and materials sciences industries. We are committed to understanding customer needs and pivoting these insights into new and exciting technologies to address those needs. Global Research is a cross-functional research team focused on step-change innovations in the Liquid Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, Biologics, Clinical, Chemistry, and Informatics products and is dedicated to exploring technologies and developing novel system solutions for the critical problems of the life sciences. Responsibilities

Conduct research activities for customer problems within the Global Research Team using state-of-the-art chromatography and mass spectrometry instrumentation; utilize affinity technologies in protein profiling, cell and gene therapy, Molecular glues, PROTAC, and ubiquitin characterization

 

Conduct systematic test measurements with prototypes and available instrumentation

 

Prepare detailed technical reports, draw conclusions based on strong data analysis, contribute to patent applications, and provide internal and external presentations to summarize scientific findings

 

Provide technical support, share development ideas, contribute to our global research portfolio, and assist in effective research planning

 

Provide technical support to external collaborators where applicable

 

Stay up to date in scientific literature for specific areas of specialization

 

Establish procedures and work effectively with cross-functional project teams, including scientists, biologists, chemists, and engineers

Qualifications

 

Qualifications

 

Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline

 

MS. in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.

 

MS. with 6+ years of relevant experience.

 

Key Experience

 

Hands-on experience with column technologies, separation science, sample preparation, and high resolution mass spectrometry

 

Bottom-up or top-down proteomics experience is preferred

 

Basic understanding of protein/peptide analysis, immunoprecipitation sample prep, andimmunoassays (ELISA, Western Blot, etc.)

 

Experience with PROTACS, molecular glues, ubiquitin assays, or ternary protein complexes desirable
