Overview

The Strategy & Operational Excellence team is on a mission to improve both our customer and employee experience by transforming how we plan, buy, make, and distribute products in Waters Global Operations. Our four pillars of focus include: Strategy, Processes and Systems, Continuous Improvement, and Insights.

 

As a Transportation Management Transformation Lead, you will be responsible for driving improvements to process and system improvements related to transportation of goods inbound to manufacturing, outbound to global distribution centers, outbound to end-customers, and returns. This will require you to collaborate with, and influence colleagues across our global network, drawing on both your own domain knowledge, as well as the cross-functional team you will be leading, to design, test, deploy, and drive adoption of new processes and systems.

 

This role will report to the Sr. Director, Global Processes & Systems. Location: Milford (US), Wilmslow (UK), European DC (NL), or Asia DC (Singapore)

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead a cross-functional team of subject-matter experts from both business and technology backgrounds
  • Work with functional leaders across functions and sites to develop a good understanding of current processes and systems
  • Work with external vendors to implement new systems, e.g., a Transportation Management System (TMS)
  • Identify best practices to be adopted into current business processes
  • Create a prioritized roadmap of changes to be introduced, working with both business leaders on other transformation leads to reach alignment
  • Design and validate proposed changes
  • Deploy new processes and functionality, supported with appropriate training programs, super-user groups, etc.
  • Measure adoption and adherence, execute interventions to drive increased adoption and adherence where necessary
  • Collaborate with stakeholders outside of Global Operations to ensure alignment with the overall enterprise, e.g., with respect to e-commerce, master data governance, and enterprise IT systems
  • Develop and attract best-in-class talent

Qualifications

  • 10+ years progressive experience in operations, including working knowledge of one or more specific areas (e.g., logistics, fulfilment)
  • Experience building and managing cross-functional teams
  • Process discovery, design, and implementation experience
  • Working knowledge of change management in the context of deploying new processes and technology solutions
  • Experience designing and deploying TMS and WMS processes and functionality
  • Strong project management skills, experience creating and executing multi-disciplinary projects
  • Strong influencing skills, proven ability to work across organizational boundaries driving change and harmonization across a global organization
  • Collaborative, strong listing skills and ability to assimilate other viewpoints to arrive at a better solution
  • Agile and responsive, experience handling multiple priorities, acting with urgency, and managing ambiguity
  • Customer-centric, track record of investing time in understanding user requirements
  • Results oriented, demonstrated ownership mindset and delivering high quality outcomes
  • Proven track record of solving problems, breaking down barriers and delivering results ahead of schedule
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Experience working as a Product Owner in a Scrum team a plus
  • Knowledge of SAP capabilities
  • Experience with SAP S4, Celonis, and Kinaxis a plus
  • BS Degree in an Engineering, Science or Supply Chain discipline. Master’s Degree or equivalent industry experience preferred
