Overview

Under limited supervision, responsible for sites general electrical work. Performs work using hand tools and testing instruments and supervises and coordinates all electrical work performed onsite. Completes all required maintenance tasks as part of preventive maintenance programs. Troubleshoots systems to determine work performed required repairs and completes as required.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances within assigned buildings i.e.., installs device receptacles, provides connection to computer workstations, replaces fuses and/or faulty switches, etc.
  2. Performs preventive maintenance and inspections on building electrical equipment and systems i.e., tests electrical lighting, monitors systems. Ensures all required tasks are completed per the manufacturer specifications. Uses CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) to document and keep records. Maintains asset and work logs i.e., records of wiring. Prepares various reports as necessary.
  3. Assists in developing preventive maintenance programs for all equipment. Troubleshoots electrical equipment and systems and/or diagnoses the cause of trouble and makes repairs i.e., corrects any emergency power outages. 
  4. Review work order system (Maximo) and schedule workload of technicians and vendors. Assign, close out WO. Performs QA of work to assure work done properly before close out of WO. Performs additional duties as requested i.e., maintains inventory for supplies and parts, requisitions parts/equipment as needed, performs various general maintenance functions as requested, coordinates activities of outside contractors. 
  5. Assists in determining budget estimates for necessary electrical work. Provide budgeting and oversite for Facilities/ Stakeholder projects. 
  6. Maintain related records concerning time, labor, and materials; maintain log of tasks performed and write reports as required. 
  7. Mentor facility staff and CoOP students providing feedback and reports on performance to reporting manager 

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Holds a master electrician's (Journeyman's) license.  
  • Trade school education plus 3-5 years of directly related electrical work experience.  
  • Some Supervisory Experience- 3-5 years preferred

 

Experience:

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and take immediate action in emergency situations.  
  • Ability to read all blueprints, or systems diagrams.  
  • Requires extensive working knowledge of electrical equipment and systems
  • Has worked in a corporate, commercial environment
  • Has minimum general computer skills

  • Physically capable of walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting and carrying, 
  • Can work in outside and inside on slippery or uneven surfaces, ladders, and scaffolding, and around machinery woth moving parts, can be exposed to hot and hold temperatures, excessive noises, fumes and chemicals.
