This role is integral to the company, our culture, and the experience of every Waters employee. The Senior Director, Head of Inclusion & Diversity will bring thought leadership, perspective and vision to create and implement impactful programs. This position will champion, promote, and guide the Company’s inclusion strategy and diversity initiatives across our global footprint.


The Senior Director, Head of Inclusion & Diversity will report to the SVP and Global Head of Human Resources, and provide strategic guidance to the CEO, Executive Committee, People Leaders and Human Resources. This key leadership role will cultivate an enduring company with individuals of diverse backgrounds at all levels, where all our employees are included and have the opportunity to grow and succeed.


  • Create a cohesive, global and business-focused Inclusion and Diversity strategy and operationalize it into a concrete working plan.
  • Build upon our current Inclusion and Diversity foundation, supporting and initiating new efforts towards achieving our 2025 published Sustainability goals
  • Consult with senior business leaders on inclusion strategies to enable business performance
  • Engage and network with the broader Life Sciences/Pharma community to learn, lead and partner on matters of diversity and inclusion; strategically align with outside organizations to help augment our strategy, and create ground-breaking thought-leadership
  • Support senior leadership with development and implementation of corporate diversity and inclusion strategies, including recruitment, performance management, leadership development, employee engagement and retention.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and partner to the business by continuously analyzing and presenting talent demographics, monitoring data trends and providing insights into the data collected
  • Partner with the Employee Circle leaders to ensure effective leadership, development, and coordination of Waters employee resource groups
  • Identify, build, and sustain community partnerships to support corporate diversity and inclusion projects/plans/initiatives and business strategies.
  • Promote a cohesive and inclusive overarching culture while maintaining a sense of local identity in various office locations
  • Embedding diversity and inclusion into company-wide operating mechanisms, ensuring global alignment while tailoring for regional needs
  • Encouraging and moderating open and practical conversation to lead teams to a greater understanding of diversity and inclusion
  • Build bold, creative diversity initiatives that demonstrate leadership as a leader, innovator, ambassador, collaborator, partner, and catalyst in mobilizing employees along the inclusion journey


  • Confident in facilitating, presenting and speaking to both internal and external audiences
  • Proven track record of leading company-wide initiatives with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills; able to turn data into insights and a compelling narrative on impact
  • Ability to interact and influence at all levels, drive change and work on multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding and expertise of D&I and knowledge of global trends
  • Demonstrate proficiency to engage, influence and work with an executive leadership team

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 15 years of HR or equivalent relevant experience; at least 10 years focused on D&I
